Hope can, and will, heal the world
INITIATIVE DRIVEN BY COLLEGE OF THE ROCKIES BSN STUDENTS & FLAVIANA MATATA FOUNDATION PARTNERSHIP:Â A CATALYST FOR CHANGE
WHO WE ARE
As 3rd year Bachelor of Science in Nursing students at College of the Rockies, we have developed a unique intercultural partnership with the Flaviana Matata Foundation in Tanzania. We know that sometimes all it takes to change the world is a little support. Since our founding in 2021, we have been determined to make an annual impact in establishing health equity for women in Tanzania. As you may be aware, girls and young women in Tanzania face significant barriers to completing secondary school and continuing with postsecondary education. These barriers have been compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, we aim to raise $2,500 to contribute to the costs of providing these young women with the electronic devices they desperately need to access education and to provide a virtual platform for connecting with other women. As we all know, isolation in the form of COVID-19 has a great impact on your mental and emotional well-being and we want to help in any way we can. We believe successful women make for successful communities.

WHAT WE DO
As future Registered Nurses who will be entering a leadership role within our own community, we want to raise awareness of social injustices at home and abroad and feel it is our moral responsibility to act in solidarity with those who do not enjoy the privileges we do here in Canada.
